The Institute of Applied Physics offers consumers an indicator for the rapid determination of the type of cast iron ICh-21 directly in castings under a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
The ICH-21 indicator ( in Russian) is designed to quickly determine the type of cast iron (high-strength or gray) directly in the castings. The principle of operation of the indicator is based on comparing the results of the inspection of the casting by the indicator with the actual size of the casting, measured, for example, with a caliper.

Structurally, the Indicator is made in the form of an electronic unit and two sensors.
To conduct an examination, it is enough to attach the indicator sensors to the casting.
Information about the results of the casting inspection is presented on a liquid crystal display and LED indicators.
Casting preparation for inspection requires only shot blasting to remove scale. It is possible to inspect castings even after applying the primer, even if it has not yet dried.
Checking the performance of the indicator is carried out using a sample of the indicator included in the kit.
The indicator is designed to work in a workshop in offline mode, powered by a built-in battery or AC adapter.
The indicator is supplied in a protective case.

Advantages and Innovations
The results of the examination by the indicator do not depend on the shape of the casting. Work on the indicator does not require special knowledge and highly qualified personnel.

Unlike instruments using the magnetic method, ICh-21 allows measurements to be taken on castings of any shape and in a wide range of sizes (casting thickness at the inspection point from 10 to 200 mm). Using an indicator, you can determine the structure of cast iron in a local area; insensitive to variations in chemical composition and magnetic properties.

The institute has two laboratories accredited by the State Standard of the Republic of Belarus: a testing laboratory for non-destructive testing and a verification laboratory.

Objects of control - Parts, blanks, castings, rolled products, forgings, welded joints, building and other structures made of metal, concrete, plastics, composite materials, pipelines, boilers, tanks, metal structures of hoisting and transport machines, products made of rubber materials, foundations, road coatings, machines and mechanisms, electrical machines, etc.

The Institute of Applied Physics is the only academic institute both in the Republic of Belarus and abroad that specializes in the field of physics of non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics. The results of research on the development of the scientific foundations of the theory of magnetism, electromagnetic, ultrasonic, radio wave, contact-dynamic, capillary and other methods of non-destructive testing brought fame to the institute. Scientists of the institute have created dozens of new types of methods and means of control, protected by copyright certificates and patents from the leading countries of the world, introduced at many industrial enterprises of the republic and abroad. The Institute maintains active international relations, being one of the founders of the World Federation of Non-Destructive Testing Centers (the headquarters of the World Federation is located in the USA). Representatives of the Institute traditionally head the Belarusian Association of Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics, which is part of the European Federation of Non-Destructive Testing (EFNDT).
