Summary
Technology and equipment for cross-wedge rolling for the production of products such as bodies of revolution with an extended axis are proposed. Structural and tool steels, as well as non-ferrous metal alloys, can be rolled. The institute is looking for industrial partners or R&D organizations for commercial agreement with technical assistance, license agreement, or research cooperation agreement.
Description
One of the promising areas of metal forming is cross-wedge rolling (CWR). The CWR method is intended for the production of products such as bodies of revolution with an extended axis. Structural and tool steels, as well as non-ferrous metal alloys, can be rolled. The PKP technology makes it possible to increase labor productivity by 10 times compared to turning shafts on automatic lathes, to reduce the metal consumption rate by 30-60%, and to increase the wear resistance of products by 20-30%. High tool life (up to 500 thousand pieces), as well as full automation of the rolling process, significantly reduce production costs.
Technical specifications of CWR complexes
CWR is used in the automotive industry, machine tool building, instrument making, agricultural machine building, tractor building, aircraft building, the nuclear industry for processing structural and a number of tool steels, heat-resistant and stainless steels, as well as non-ferrous alloys based on copper, aluminum, titanium, zirconium.

Advantages and Innovations
Flat-rolling mills have a number of advantages over roll mills:
• ease of manufacture and low cost of flat wedge tools manufactured on universal milling and grinding machines;
• stable position of the part on the plane of the tool;
• high dimensional accuracy (0.1…0.5 mm) of rolled parts;
• high resistance of flat wedge tools (up to 500,000 parts);
• low metal intensity of the equipment;
• low cost of rolled parts (10% lower than on roll mills);
• ease of operation and adjustment of the mill;
• quick readjustment of equipment for the production of new parts, full automation of the process.
