Description
OJSC "Minsk Research Institute of Radiomaterials" of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus manufactures strain sensors DD designed to monitor the amount of deformation (compression) of the car axle under load and provide information via CAN interface. The sensors are made as a tensoresistive bridge that perceives the deformation of the sensor base.
Strain sensors DD are used as part of a car overload protection system, and to register weight parameters in urban municipal equipment.
The sensor is attached to car axle using four (4) M8x1 bolts to the slats with threaded holes.
The principle of operation of the sensor is based on measuring the relative elongation or compression of an element due to a change in the load applied to it.
The sensor is characterized by:
* the presence of a built-in measuring module that performs the functions of amplifying the output signal from the strain gauge bridge;
* the presence of a 24-bit analog-to-digital converter;
* the presence of a 32-bit microcontroller that calculates the load value in kilograms using constants stored in the microcontroller's memory when the user performs the sensor calibration procedure;
* correction of the load calculation result taking into account the influence of ambient temperature using the built-in temperature sensor;
* output of the load and temperature measurement result in error-protected digital format (CAN 2.0 B);
* small overall and installation dimensions;
* low sensitivity to external mechanical factors during operation;
* high reliability and the necessary margin for pressing the working surfaces of the sensors to the object, which eliminates the violation of sensor calibration associated with the effect of "slippage" when exposed to extreme loads.

The research and production base of the institute includes dedicated equipment which allows to develop and perform a full cycle of technological operations for the manufacture of microwaves, optoelectronic components, sensors of physical quantities based on microelectromechanical systems, equipment for the manufacture of medical products - Glucosen sensors etc. In particular, the equipment allows cutting semiconductor ingots of A3B5 compounds (GaAs, InP, GaN, etc.), grinding and polishing wafers, epitaxial growth, thermal diffusion and implantation of dopants, microcircuit packaging, control of their parameters, etc.
The Institute has a licensed software for electrodynamic calculations, its own library of standard elements, methods for monitoring and testing microwave components in the C, S, L, X, K wavelength ranges, electronic lithography equipment with a resolution of 100 nm, which provides a modern level of design standards.
As part of the specialization, the development of technologies, components and devices for various radio-electronic systems is carried out: radar systems, fiber-optic communication lines, laser rangefinders, systems for leveling and orientation of objects, control systems, guidance and navigation, etc.
