Description
The SPC ensures the improvement of existing and the creation of new science-based technologies for the complex processing of potatoes into starches and potato products, the development of new products from fruits and vegetables, and scientific and technological support for the food concentrate and sugar industries.
Services list:
- development of technical regulatory legal acts and technological documents for the production of products from potatoes, fruits and vegetables;
- participation in the development, examination, approval of recipes;
- development of new types of products from potatoes, fruits and vegetables;
- development of technologies for the rational use of potato-starch and sugar production waste for feed and technical purposes;
- development of low-waste and energy-saving technologies for the rational use of potatoes and sugar beets in the production of starch, potato products and sugar by combining their production in a single technologically and technically equipped production complex, etc.
SPC specialists have developed:
- Specifications for products from potatoes, fruits, vegetables, food concentrates;
- new types of potato products: molded frozen (pancakes, zeppelins), fried (french fries iced with food compositions), soft carbonated drinks based on potatoes, aromatic and medicinal plants without the use of artificial flavors and dyes, enriched instant mashed potatoes , mixtures for potato dishes, etc.;
- new types of (physically and chemically) modified starches;
- new varieties of sugar.

The Scientific and Practical Center for Foodstuffs of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus occupies a leading position in the food industry due to the concentration of scientific research aimed at solving current problems in the development of new technologies and equipment, creating a series of new competitive food products for various groups of the population.
Main objectives in the field of quality:
- formation of fundamentally new methodological foundations for conducting fundamental and applied research aimed at implementing state development programs of the Republic of Belarus in the field of the food industry;
- creation and implementation of new knowledge-intensive and energy-saving technologies (biotechnologies) for deep processing of raw materials of plant and animal origin;
- development of a wide range of food products for functional, preventive and special purposes (including for children), meeting international standards of quality, safety and competitiveness.
The main activities of the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Foodstuffs”:
- scientific support of technological and technical problems of improvement and reconstruction of enterprises in the fruit and vegetable, starch, wine, alcohol, alcoholic beverage, beer and soft drinks, fat and oil industries, confectionery, sugar and other sectors of the food industry in order to increase the competitiveness and quality of food products;
- creation and implementation of new technologies for deep processing of raw materials of animal and plant origin for the production of a wide range of food and feed;

- development of technical documentation and passports for equipment, production of experimental and serial technological equipment for the food industry, general purpose machines and equipment;

development of new and revision of existing standards for the consumption of raw materials and auxiliary materials for food industry enterprises;
- certification of food, perfume and cosmetic products, containers and packaging; assessing production laboratories for technical competence, metrological support for production of food industry enterprises;
- development of methods, conducting tests to determine quality and safety indicators of raw materials and food products, issuing test reports.
Agreements on scientific and technical cooperation have been concluded, including international agreements with scientific organizations of the People's Republic of China and with research institutes of the Russian Federation. In total, there are more than 70 international agreements on scientific and technical cooperation with scientific organizations and universities in Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Armenia, Sweden, Bulgaria, and China. Representatives of foreign organizations take part in seminars and conferences organized by the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Foodstuffs”.
