Summary
V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany offers consumers an intensive technology for the propagation of potato breeding and seed material in meristem laboratories under a commercial agreement with technical assistamce, technical equipment for implementing the technology ubder a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners to conclude a research cooperation agreement.
Description
V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany offers technical equipment and intensive technology designed for accelerated propagation of potato breeding and seed material in meristem laboratories. The technical facilities are a computerized biotechnical complex of a modular type (BTK-1), which is operated in a year-round mode. BTK-1 is installed in a laboratory room and operates in an artificial climate. Technological regulations are regulated by software through a personal computer interface or manually. The ion-exchange substrate "Tryona" is used as a root habitat, balanced to the optimum for potato plants and intended for reusable use.
Microcloning of meristematic potato plants of different maturity on artificial substrates in vivo, carried out according to the proposed technology, allows you to quickly accumulate meristem material and virus-free potato seedlings. The resulting seedlings can be used for further production of virus-free minitubers of various potato varieties and maturity dates.
Biotechnical complexes are technical devices of a modular type that implement the technology of year-round production of virus-free minitubers and seedlings in vivo from meristem plants on a substrate balanced in terms of ionic composition. An artificial soil based on ion-exchange materials of natural and synthetic origin is used as a substrate. Watering is carried out programmatically, depending on the growth phase, photoperiod, illumination and heat and humidity conditions for growing plants.
Intensive technology is implemented by equipment of a biotechnical complex of a modular type, with the possibility of increasing their number depending on the BTK-1 placement area. On a single module (2 sq.m), which BTK-1 consists of, the technology makes it possible to obtain hardened seedlings suitable for subsequent planting in greenhouses or in open ground on an area of at least 800 sq.m (at the established rate of 60,000 pcs/ha ).
During the year, according to the technology, three growing seasons are carried out on each module to obtain minitubers with a capacity of 1500 pieces per growing season. Each season, by May 1, the tubers are subjected to special activation and are ready for planting on an area of 700 sq.m.

Advantages and Innovations
The intensive technology makes it possible to obtain standard virus-free potato material of various breeding and new varieties belonging to different ripeness groups in a year-round mode in closed conditions. The average cost of a minituber for three growing seasons (winter, spring, summer-autumn) is 0.08 US dollars, the cost of seedlings is 0.03 US dollars.
The planting material obtained at the Biotechnical Complex has a high dry matter content in mini-tubers, the absence of a viral infection, 100% germination in the field, increased resistance to infection, which determines its high quality.

Additional comments
V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the oldest biological research institution in the republic.
The main activities of the Institute:
* assessment of the impact of new construction (reconstruction) and economic activities on flora objects;
* ecotourism and eco-education: design and information support of ecological trails, visitor centers and forest eco-educational centers, development of promotional products;
* assessment of the degree of infestation of the fertile soil layer with viable seeds of Sosnowsky's hogweed and the development of ways to combat this dangerous invasive species;
* development and production of artificial substrates for reproduction and cultivation of plants;
* creation of compositions of growth regulators and plant protection products, as well as technologies for their application;
* testing of plant protection products subject to state registration (for tree and shrub species in forest, protective, landscaping plantations, forest plantations and nurseries, as well as for flax).
Extensive research has been carried out at the Institute, as a result of which the distribution and stocks of the most important types of medicinal plants in the republic have been established; the dynamics of medicinal plant resources was revealed, recommendations for their rational use were developed; the chorological features of the flora of Belarus were clarified, which was the basis for the development of specific measures for the protection of individual representatives and floristic complexes as a whole. The Institute has a priority in studying the patterns of flora formation, features of ecology and biology of plant species, the structure and composition of their populations under extreme growing conditions, as well as the taxonomic study of individual species and genera of plants of the Belarusian flora.
The Institute studies the patterns of distribution and formation of natural vegetation in Belarus, the structure and productivity of plant communities, the dynamics and direction of successional processes in the vegetation cover. The scientific bases for the rational use of plant resources and the protection of the flora, the theoretical foundations and principles for the classification of vegetation, the typological classification of the forests of Belarus, the forest and geobotanical zoning of the republic, the scientific foundations of forestry on zonal-typological principles are being developed.
A collection of pure cultures of micromycetes, deuteromycetes, consisting of 55 species (more than 300 strains), 400 strains of bacteria identified to the genus, isolated fr om the rhizosphere and phylloplana of leguminous plants and potatoes, has been created.
The Institute conducts comprehensive research to develop the fundamental foundations of modern sustainable and environmentally friendly crop production, substantiates the effectiveness of the use of new forms of preparations for agriculture, develops ways to lim it the spread of invasive plant species, creates environmentally safe and cost-effective technologies for using biotechnological production waste as secondary material resources, which allows us to successfully search for methods that combine the ecological orientation of extensive agriculture and the advantages of knowledge-intensive intensive food production, to offer new ways to stimulate productivity.
The Institute maintains international relations within the framework of existing agreements on scientific and technical cooperation, agreements and memorandums on scientific and technical (creative) cooperation with relevant organizations from different countries.
