Summary
The Institute of Forest offers consumers a method (technology) for monitoring the apical and six-toothed bark beetle in pine stands using domestic pheromone preparations under a commercial agreement with technical assistance and is looking for partners to cultivate the technology under a technical cooperation agreement.
Description
The method for monitoring the apical and six-toothed bark beetles in pine stands is intended for use in the forest fund of state forestry institutions of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus and other legal entities involved in forestry, nature conservation institutions as part of measures taken by forest protection services to combat dangerous forest pests.

For the first time in the Republic of Belarus, a method for monitoring the number of apical and six-toothed bark beetles in pine stands using domestic pheromone preparations has been developed, which establishes the procedure for organizing and conducting pheromone surveillance of these xylophages.

The method (technology) provides for operational control of the number of apical and six-toothed bark beetles
using domestic pheromone preparations as part of measures taken by forest protection services of the forest industry to combat dangerous forest pests.

Practical application of the method in monitoring and forest protection measures against six-toothed and apical bark beetles. The volume of pheromone preparations for the domestic market is determined by the needs of legal entities engaged in forestry and environmental protection institutions. Deliveries to the domestic market are made upon prior request, by bank transfer.

Information is posted in  Album of promising developments of the NAS of Belarus organizations for the real sector of the economy (2023), p. 228-229. (in Russian)
Advantages and Innovations
Economic benefits are achieved through savings from import substitution, increased productivity and biological stability of plantings. Allows for prompt control of the number and spread of stem pests.

The use of the method for monitoring the number of apical and six-toothed bark beetles allows for reducing the damage caused by these types of pests to pine plantations due to the timely detection of their foci, assessment of their numbers and the appointment of preventive forest protection measures.

The use of pheromone preparations for monitoring the number of bark beetles is environmentally safe.

Complies with the best foreign analogues.

The Institute of Forest has well-equipped material, technical and instrumental bases that ensure the implementation of research work at a modern scientific and methodological level.

The Institute carries out active scientific cooperation with research institutes and higher educational institutions of the CIS countries and far abroad.

Experimental and industrial testing of scientific and technical developments of the Institute is carried out at its three experimental forest bases: Dvinskaya, Zhornovskaya and Korenevskaya.

Areas of activity:
- study of genetic, physiological and biochemical mechanisms for the formation of forest productivity and sustainability;
- improvement of the scientific foundations of reproduction, rational use and protection of forest resources;
- development of technologies for sustainable forest management and forest use;
- development of forest reproduction technologies based on genetic selection, increasing their productivity, environmental sustainability and preserving biodiversity;
- development of methods, means and technologies for protecting forests from fires and protecting them from harmful organisms;
- development of methods and technologies for the rehabilitation of anthropogenically disturbed forest lands;
- development of methods and technologies for the protection and reproduction of non-timber forest products, the use of biotechnology for industry, agriculture, medicine and environmental protection.

The regulatory and technical framework of the republic for forestry management has been developed by the Institute or with its participation.
