Today, December 12, AUTM members celebrate Tech Transfer Professionals Day on the anniversary of the Bayh-Dole Act, which was signed into law on this day in 1980.

The Bayh-Dole Act fundamentally changed the system of technology transfer in the United States, and subsequently in other countries around the world that followed the example of the United States, allowing universities and research organizations to retain ownership of inventions created with public funds and to take the lead in patenting and licensing innovative discoveries.

We congratulate our colleagues who help bridge the gap between research and industry, helping to transform new knowledge and technologies into a source of income, profit and increased welfare of society on their professional holiday!
