Summary
The Joint Institute for Nuclear and Energy Research proposes a technology for optimizing the main neutron-physical parameters of the Yalina subcritical assembly with a fast neutron spectrum and low-enriched nuclear fuel under an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation. The Institute is looking for partners in the field of nuclear energy interested in organizing joint work within the framework of an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation.
Description
Calculated and experimental studies of the dependence of the effective neutron multiplication factor (keff) on the amount of fuel in the core and the spatial distributions of the neutron flux density in the experimental channels of the Yalina-Booster subcritical assembly with a circular intermediate zone providing one-way neutron coupling between the fast and thermal zones have been carried out. Nuclear safety of the subcritical assembly "Yalina - Booster" with a new configuration of the fast part of the core controlled by an NG-12-1 neutron generator with a target device based on deuterium and tritium targets, generating primary neutron beams with energies of 2.5 and 14.1 MeV has been substantiated , respectively.

On the basis of the research carried out at the subcritical test bench "Yalina", several term papers and diploma works were prepared by students of the Physics Faculty of BSU and the Radioecological University. Sakharov. Students of the Institute of Atomic Energy from Obninsk (Russia) came to the stand for practical training. The results of research at the stand became the basis for the defense of three Ph.D. theses by Belarusian specialists.
In connection with the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Republic of Belarus, there is a need to train its own qualified specialists on the basis of the existing nuclear physics facilities of the National Academy of Sciences.
Advantages and Innovations
The research became the basis of two international benchmarks, in which scientists from 18 countries of Europe, America and Asia participated. Researchers from these countries took part in the experiments and analysis of the results. The data of the experimental and computational studies are included in the database of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
