Summary
The Joint Institute of Power and Nuclear Research - Sosny offers customers research services for subcritical systems controlled by external sources at the nuclear physics complex "Yalina" under an outsourcing agreement or a subcontracting.
Description
The unique nuclear physics complex "Yalina" was created within the framework of the project of the International Scientific and Technical Center with the participation of the European Union.
To date, the Yalina complex is the only operating nuclear physics complex in Europe, where nuclear power plants of a new generation are studied - subcritical systems controlled by external sources, while in Japan, Germany, Sweden, the USA and other states they are at design development stages.
These systems are designed for energy production and incineration (transmutation) of long-lived radioactive waste accumulated as a result of nuclear power plant operation, and also have an inherent safety feature. It should be noted that subcritical reactors are considered in the short term as the most promising direction for energy production.
On the basis of Yalina Yalina, together with the nuclear centers of Sweden, Germany and Spain, an International Scientific Laboratory is being created to:
- expanding international cooperation and conducting joint research in the field of modern nuclear energy systems and nuclear waste transmutation;
- attracting financial investments for theoretical and experimental research, updating the material and technical base of the institute;
- use of the Yalina complex for training postgraduates and specialists in the field of modern nuclear energy and radioactive waste management, which are becoming a priority for many countries with limited reserves of fuel and energy resources.
