Additional comments
Activities:
- Development of theoretical foundations for controlling the processes of formation of the structure and properties of metals and alloys during their crystallization and solidification;
- Thermal physics and hydrodynamics of special types of casting;
- Creation of new materials and resource-saving technological processes for their production, processing and hardening.
The results of fundamental research of the institute are presented in scientific publications and are used by:
- when creating environmentally friendly resource-saving technologies for continuous casting of ingots from ferrous and non-ferrous alloys;
- development of new cast, including bimetallic, materials with high consumer properties (strength, ductility, density);
- development of wear-resistant composites based on carbon, including those with a gradient of physical and mechanical properties.
The Institute develops, manufactures, supplies, assembles and maintains equipment for:
- continuous casting of ferrous and non-ferrous metals;
- electroslag casting of blanks,
- including bimetallic ones;
- centrifugal casting of bimetals.
The Institute has developed and introduced high-performance, resource-saving, environmentally friendly technologies:
- continuous horizontal casting from cast iron and alloys based on copper and aluminum;
- continuous-cyclic freezing casting of cast-iron blanks of cylinder liners for engines and pneumatic compressors, piston and sealing rings for various purposes;
- continuous casting of reinforced copper chloride tape for water-activated power sources into a roller mold;
- manufacturing by centrifugal and electroslag casting methods of bimetallic castings with an extended service life;
- casting of high-quality blanks of zinc anodes for electroplating production from their waste;
- obtaining blanks of aluminum-silicon alloys with nanostructured silicon by casting by hardening;
- production of lead tape by the combined method of casting and rolling in a roll mould;
- production of cast parts from wear-resistant cast irons.
