Description
A.V.Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the NAS of Belarus has developed an automatic system for monitoring and controlling the process of gas carburizing for a complex of electric furnaces SSHTS-8.16/10 (hereinafter referred to as the control system), used in the technological process of gas carburizing of steel parts and designed to control carbon potential in the working space of the furnace.
The developed control system works without the use of an endogenerator. The necessary chemical transformations in a mixture of natural gas and air are carried out directly in the working space of the carburizing furnace due to the presence of catalytic properties in a heat-resistant retort, as well as due to the preliminary mixing of the gas mixture in a specially designed compact mixer.
The control system includes: control cabinet, compressed air and sample preparation unit.

- exclusion from the process of expensive equipment (endogenerator, gas preparator);
- saving on operating costs (power of endogenerator heaters ~ 20 kW and more, this system consumes 1 kW);
- savings on periodic maintenance (catalyst);
- the ability to control the quality of carburizing (management of carbon potential).
