On November 25, 2020, an online presentation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) publication "Sub-regional Innovation Policy Outlook 2020: Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus" took place.

In the event took part Ms. Olga Algayerova, Executive Secretary of UNECE, Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO and H.E. Ms. Anna Jardfelt, Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva. The event brought together EESC vice ministers and deputy ministers, EESC innovation stakeholders, international experts, international organisations and the UNECE secretariat.

The Sub-regional Innovation Policy Outlook (IPO), a pilot UNECE flagship publication, supports efforts in the EESC region to respond to this requirement through a concerted, systematic and comprehensive assessment and through comparison of the scope, quality, and effectiveness of innovation policies, institutions and processes across countries with shared economic, structural, legacy and institutional features. The IPO complements international composite indices measuring innovation inputs, outputs and performance by looking more closely at the role that policies and institutions play in promoting innovation.
