Summary
The Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering offers consumers microarc oxidation technology for obtaining composite protective, wear-resistant and functional ceramic coatings on products made of aluminum, magnesium and titanium alloys under a commercial agreement with technical assistance and equipment with technology improvement directly in the production conditions of the Customer under manufacturing agreement.
Description
Formation of coatings using carbon and carbon-containing nanomaterials (CNM). Adding CNM to the electrolyte increases the efficiency of the process of forming coatings with improved tribomechanical characteristics.

Equipment has been created and a pilot industrial site has been organized for obtaining coatings. It is possible to apply coatings to parts in accordance with the Customer's requirements with the provision of services to enterprises for strengthening parts with wear-resistant composite coatings and the transfer of technologies and equipment for the formation of composite ceramic coatings.

Based on the developed scientific and methodological principles of using carbon, carbide, nitride nanoparticles in the process of microarc oxidation, a technology has been created for the formation of wear-resistant, high-strength, heat-protective, corrosion-resistant and other functional coatings on parts made of aluminum, magnesium and titanium alloys of various chemical compositions used in mechanical engineering, aviation, space technology, the chemical industry and energy.

Microarc oxidation technology is aimed at parts and mechanisms of industrial enterprises of various sectors of the Republic of Belarus, as well as near and far abroad.

Information on the technology and equipment for microarc oxidation is contained in "Catalog of Products and Services of the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering" 2018, p.17.

Information also is posted in the  Album of promising developments of the NAS of Belarus organizations for the real sector of the economy (2023), p. 91-92. (in Russian)

Advantages and Innovations
- Reduction of the coating production process by 1.2–1.8 times;
- Increase in coating thickness by 1.3–2.0 times (up to 250 μm);
- Iincrease in microhardness by 1.2–1.5 times (up to 25 GPa);
- Reduction in the coefficient of friction and wear rate of coatings by 1.2–1.5 times;
- Increase in crack resistance by 1.5–2.0 times, which expands the scope of application in units and mechanisms operating under conditions of increased dynamic loads;
- Optimization and automation of the technological process reduces the cost of coatings.

The developed technology for oxidation of parts made of aluminum, magnesium and titanium alloys is safe, since the process is carried out in weakly alkaline aqueous electrolytes.

The high level of technological efficiency of the microarc oxidation process is achieved by a high degree of automation of the process, in which the part placed in a bath with electrolyte is exposed to alternating pulses of positive polarity of complex shape and pulses of negative polarity, which reduces the level of energy consumption.
