Description
In some cases, joining parts made of thermoplastic polymers using ultrasonic welding is not possible, since the specifics and conditions of production do not allow the use of stationary, heavy-weight ultrasonic equipment. This occurs, for example, when welding large-sized parts and products made of sheet polymeric materials, as well as in places inaccessible for welding with stationary equipment. For carrying out this kind of work, lightweight portable ultrasonic welding machines are used, the basic elements of which are an electronic generator and a welding gun. The electronic generator is used to convert electrical energy of industrial frequency into the energy of ultrasonic frequency (20-60 kHz) and is designed to power a piezoelectric transducer mounted in a welding gun. The transducer by means of piezoceramic elements transforms electrical vibrations into mechanical vibrations of the same frequency. With the help of a waveguide-tool connected to the transducer, ultrasonic vibrations are introduced into the parts to be welded.
The Institute has developed and produced an ultrasonic portable plastic welding gun, which is designed for:
- ultrasonic welding of polymer parts, including those located in hard-to-reach places;
- riveting and point soldering, soldering of a polymer belt in conveyor systems.
Application area:
- ultrasonic welding of plastics used in food, chemical, aviation, automotive, and other industries;
- welding of plastic containers and various types of packaging.
