Summary
A.V.Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute offers consumers sources of obtaining high-purity hydrogen on the basis of a manufacturing agreement, is looking for partners to conclude an agreement on distribution services, as well as partners interested in acquiring technology for the production of the sources of obtaining high-purity hydrogen under a license agreement.
Description
The operation of the hydrogen generator is based on the catalytic hydrolysis of sodium borohydride (NaBH4). A self-produced catalyst is used, which provides the required hydrolysis rate when carrying out the process according to a circulation scheme. In the developed technology for producing pure hydrogen, NaBH4 is stored in an anhydrous dry form. As a solvent for NaBH4, a sodium metaborate solution saturated at room temperature is used. The temperature in the working solution can be maintained at the level of 145..153 C, which allows the hydrolysis of NaBH4 to be carried out at a high rate.
The hydrogen generator is a cylinder 150 mm in diameter and 250 mm in height. The hydrogen generator is started up by means of an electric heater built into the solution supply path to the catalytic unit for its preheating. This solution is quite simple and, most importantly, manageable. The start time is estimated at a few minutes. The heater is based on three identical glow plugs from a Bosh diesel engine. The power of one candle is 300 W. This decision is based on the use of 12 V low-voltage power supply, natural for fuel cells (and cars). The working solution consists of granular anhydrous NaBH4 and a NaBO2 solution saturated at room temperature. To implement the hydrolysis reaction, a NaBH4 solution is pumped through the catalytic block. The minimum required hydrolysis rate depends on the duration of such operations as draining the spent NaBO2 solution, preparing and supplying a fresh NaBH4 solution.
A program has been created that monitors the operation of the hydrogen generator and controls the parameters that affect the course of processes occurring in the installation. The use of computer control of the installation allows you to control all key functions and provides a visual dynamic display of the controlled information in numerical and graphical form. The program automatically collects information on five parameters (temperature of the solution and gas in the reactor, pressure in the reactor, high and low pressure receivers) that control the processes in the hydrogen generator, and controls the flow of hydrogen at the outlet of the reactor. In addition, the operation of the heater is controlled to ensure the required temperature conditions for the experiment.
The Institute offers partners:
* within the framework of a production agreement, joint production of high-purity hydrogen sources;
* within the framework of a license agreement, the acquisition of technology for the manufacture of high-purity hydrogen sources;
* within the framework of an agreement on distribution services, sources for obtaining high-purity hydrogen.

Advantages and Innovations
A circulation system is used in the design of the hydrogen generator, which allows the use of cheap catalysts of our own production without the addition of precious metals such as platinum, palladium, etc.
The resulting hydrogen is saturated only with water vapor, so it can be supplied to the anode space of the fuel cell without additional purification and humidification.
