Summary
The Institute of Applied Physics offers consumers a set of equipment for monitoring the depth of hardened layers ICH-31 to ensure the possibility of non-destructive quality control of hardening mechanical engineering products under a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
The ICh-31 equipment set provides non-destructive quality control of hardening mechanical engineering products to increase the competitiveness of products of enterprises of the Republic of Belarus.
The experience of using equipment for monitoring the depth of strengthened layers ICh-31 at enterprises of the Russian Federation has shown its effectiveness and competitiveness. The use of equipment to control the depth of strengthened layers makes it possible to ensure high quality mechanical engineering products.
Designed for non-destructive ultrasonic testing of the thickness of the hardened layer on steel products (laser hardening, hardening after carburization, high-frequency hardening) at mechanical engineering, energy, transport. The range of measured thicknesses of the hardened layer is 0–6.0 mm, the measurement accuracy is not lower than 15%. The growing use of various methods for strengthening steel products in the industry of the Republic of Belarus and the CIS countries creates the potential for using equipment to control the depth of hardening ICh-31.
Additional information is posted in the Album of promising developments of organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for the real sector of the economy here (in Russian).

Advantages and Innovations
Unlike well-known devices, ICh-31 allows measurements to be taken on products of various shapes - both on the flat surface of a part and on a cylindrical one (along its generatrix), and with the use of special transducers - on cylindrical (across the generatrix) and on complexly configured surfaces ( fillet transitions, surfaces of gear teeth, etc.).
Equipment for monitoring the depth of reinforced layers ICH-31 is safe for the environment.

The main scientific fields of the Institute:
- Physics of non-destructive testing;
- Development of methods and means of non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics of materials, products and technological processes;
- Creation of scientific foundations of information technologies for non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics.
Non-destructive testing methods developed at the institute:
- Methods of ultrasonic flaw detection, structuroscopy, thickness measurement of surface hardened layers;
- Capillary control method;
- Pulse magnetic control method;
- Methods of magnetic thickness measurement of coatings;
- Thermopower method;
- Eddy current methods of flaw detection and structuroscopy;
- Method of magnetic noise structuroscopy;
- Methods for monitoring the magnetic characteristics of soft magnetic materials, magnetic fields and residual magnetization;

The institute has two laboratories accredited by the State Standard of the Republic of Belarus: a testing laboratory for non-destructive testing and a verification laboratory.
Objects of control - Parts, blanks, castings, rolled products, forgings, welded joints, building and other structures made of metal, concrete, plastics, composite materials, pipelines, boilers, tanks, metal structures of hoisting and transport machines, products made of rubber materials, foundations, road coatings, machines and mechanisms, electrical machines, etc.
The Institute of Applied Physics is the only academic institute both in the Republic of Belarus and abroad that specializes in the field of physics of non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics. The results of research on the development of the scientific foundations of the theory of magnetism, electromagnetic, ultrasonic, radio wave, contact-dynamic, capillary and other methods of non-destructive testing brought fame to the institute. Scientists of the institute have created dozens of new types of methods and means of control, protected by copyright certificates and patents from the leading countries of the world, introduced at many industrial enterprises of the republic and abroad. The Institute maintains active international relations, being one of the founders of the World Federation of Non-Destructive Testing Centers (the headquarters of the World Federation is located in the USA). Representatives of the Institute traditionally head the Belarusian Association of Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics, which is part of the European Federation of Non-Destructive Testing (EFNDT).
