Summary
The Institute of Fruit Growing offers consumers a variety and technologies modified for local conditions for growing ordinary lingonberries in their personal garden plots under a manufacturing agreement or an outsourcing agreement and is looking for partners interested in a distribution services agreement.
Description
Ordinary lingonberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea L.). Heather family (Ericaceae)
Ordinary lingonberry was introduced into cultivation in 1966 in Sweden, where the first lingonberry plantation was established on an area of 5 hectares.
Ordinary lingonberry is a perennial evergreen erect shrub 10–40 cm high. Aboveground shoots are of two types - formation and branching. The leaves of lingonberry are leathery, dark green above, shiny, lighter below, matte, with resinous dark brown glands. The roots are located mainly in the upper layer of soil (at a depth of 2–10 cm), do not have root hairs, but are equipped with mycorrhiza, which performs the function of absorbing water and nutrients. In addition to above-ground shoots, lingonberries form long underground shoots - rhizomes. The buds of lingonberries are pale pink, the flowers are white. The flowers are collected in a one-sided drooping raceme. The fruit is a four- and sometimes five-lobed berry.
