Summary
A.V.Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the NAS of Belarus offers consumers a nanodiagnostic complex with the functions of scanning probe and optical microscopy under a manufacturing agreement and is looking for partners to conclude a distribution services agreement.
Description
A.V.Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the NAS of Belarus has developed a nanodiagnostic complex with the functions of scanning probe and optical microscopy, designed to test metal, ceramic, polymeric materials, nanocomposites, thin films and biological micro- and nano-objects.

The complex refers to automated hardware visualization and probe scanning of micro-objects (including biological cells) with nanometer resolution and analysis of their local mechanical properties by indentation. Measurement of these parameters allows obtaining reliable and complete information about viscoelastic materials (polymers, biological tissues, cells and organelles).

The complex is made in the form of a desktop device of a block structure. The design of the complex provides ease of operation, access to all its nodes and blocks that require regulation or replacement in work process. For the effective use of the complex, methodological support has been developed to determine the modulus of elasticity, relaxation time; viscosity and mechanical loss tangent of the material during nanoindentation.

The main operational characteristics of the complex:
Indentation modes static/dynamic
Probe resolution:
vertical 0,1 nm
lateral 0,5 nm
Force measurement:
resolution 1nN(nanonewton)
measurement range, depending on the stiffness of the loading element from от 0,001 до 10 mN(millinewton)
increase in providing optical function up to x 500
maximum scanning field 50х50 microns

The complex can be used in fundamental and applied research in the field of microbiology, micromechanics, thin-film technologies, nanotechnologies and biotechnologies, to determine the physical and mechanical properties of materials at the micro- and nanolevels.

The Institute offers partners:
* a nanodiagnostic complex with the functions of scanning probe and optical microscopy under a manufacturing agreement;
* a nanodiagnostic complex with the functions of scanning probe and optical microscopy under a distribution services agreement.
Advantages and Innovations
The nanodiagnostic complex combines the functions of scanning probe and optical microscopy, which greatly expands the functionality and allows solving such problems of nanodiagnostics, nanostructural materials science and biomechanics as:
- visualization of nano-objects and surface layers with nanometer lateral and vertical resolution;
- spatial visualization of biological cells;
- conducting research in a liquid medium;
- conducting research when combining the functions of optical and scanning probe microscopy;
- positioning of the probe in the microscale;
- determination of elastic and adhesive properties of polymer nanocomposites, thin films and biological cells;
- determination of rheological characteristics of viscoelastic materials at the nanoscale.
