The meeting of the permanent representative of the Republic of Belarus to international organizations A.N. Sychev and K. Yumkella, the Director-General of UNIDO, was held on August 11 in Vienna.
In the course of the meeting the Belarusian party informed of its interest in establishing the Centre for International Industrial Cooperation based on the Republican Centre for Technology Transfer and SI “Belarusian Institute of System Analysis and Information Support for Scientific and Technical Sphere” under “UNIDO Project to Enhance the Industrial Integration of EurAsEC countries” (2010 – 2012) financed by UNIDO and the Government of the Russian Federation. The letter of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus (SCST) regarding this initiative was handed over to the Director-General of UNIDO.
The head of UNIDO acknowledged the Belarusian initiative for the Centre establishment, certified of the full support of the project from the part of UNIDO and emphasized the necessity in the immediate launch of the Centre establishment procedures. The parties reached the agreement on sending the return letter of the UNIDO Director-General containing the Centre concept suggestions to the address of SCST officials in the short term.
