On 22-24 October the City of Shenyang (the Laoning Province, China) hosted the 2nd All-China International Seminar on Ecology of the Water Resources of Liaohe River.
Chinese and Belarusian scientists and researchers specialized in telmathology and water treatment took part in the event. The trip of the delegates of Belarus was arranged by the Republican Centre for Technology Transfer, on invitation and with financial support from the State Administration for Foreign Experts’ Affairs of the Liaoning Province.
The agenda of the Seminar included, inter alia, the reports by Belarusian representatives: “Main activities of the Institute for Nature Management of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Long-Term Outlook of Cooperation” by Director of the State Research Institute for Nature Management Alexander Karabanov, reports “Water Resources of Belarus: Current State, Conflict Situations, Solutions”, “Modern Application and Reduction Methods of Peatbogs of Belarus” and “Experience in Reduction and Monitoring of Peat Ecosystem of Belarus” by research officers of the aforementioned institute Elena Sanets, Nina Tanovitskaya, Viacheslav Rakovitch, and the report “Reduction of Oil Pollution of Soil and Water by Sorption Methods” by representative of the State Research Institute of Applied Physical Problems Mikhail Ksenafontau.
Information about RCTT and a catalogue of innovation projects and developments by organizations of National Academy of Science of Belarus have been distributed among the Chinese participants of the Seminar.
During the event the Liaonin Agro and Administrative University of the People’s Republic of China, the State Research Institute for Nature Management under the NAS of Belarus and Republican Centre for Technology Transfer signed a tripartite letter of intent for preparation of the application forms of joint project “Investigation and Restoration of the Peatlands of Liaohe River an the Lotos Lake and Establishment of a Local Reserve Area”. The project would be incorporated in a support programme of a specialized international foundation.
