The Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre) invites nominations for participation in international workshop “Empowerment of Women Through Science & Technology Interventions”. The event is to be held in Tehran, Iran on 14-16 December 2008. The event will be jointly held by the NAM S&T Centre, the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) and Iranian Association of Women’s Studies (IAWS).
The workshop is open to the representatives of women study groups, academic institutions and non-governmental organizations dealing with the development and welfare of women engaged in activities related to the role of S&T for women empowerment in the developing countries as well as the government policy makers.
Request for participation in this event may be sent to the NAM S&T Centre (E-mail: email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com) by completing the Nomination Form, a copy of which is available on the Centre’s website www.namstct.org). The selection will be strictly on merit, quality of the extended abstract of the presentation material of the participant to be submitted along with the completed Nomination Form and on first come first basis.
English will be the official language of the international workshop.
All the selected participants will be provided free local hospitality (accommodation, meals and local transport) in Iran for the period 13 December to 17 December 2008 (i.e. one day before and one day after the workshop), and no registration fee will be charged by the organizers.
The NAM S&T Centre reimburses the to and fro international fare to the scientists from its member countries to attend the workshop likewise the Centre’s scientific events organized anywhere in the world.
Participants coming from non-member countries will have to make their own arrangement for the international travel to and from Tehran and will also pay to the Centre a Processing Fee of US$300 each to partly offset the expenditure incurred by the Centre in holding this scientific event.
The deadline for submission of applications is 15 November 2008.
