PhD Tamara Yanchevskaya, Manager of the Field Office of the Republican Centre for Technology Transfer at the Changchun Sino-Russian Technopark, paid a visit to the Institute of Biotechnology with the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The guest came to acknowledge herself with the research and economic activity of the institute where as much as 20% of the overall potato seed stock is produced for the Province of Jilin. Regarding this particular field of agricultural research, Ms Yanchevskaya informed the Chinese colleagues about the recent progress and advanced achievements of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in virus-free potato seed breeding. The most likely forms of collaboration with the counterpart institution in Belarus have been discussed. The relevant agreement of transfer and assimilation of the Belarusian technology is expected to be drafted by the RCTT Field Office and subsequently signed at the National Exhibition of Belarus, during the Harbin Trade and Economics Fair (on 15 – 19 June 2007).
