On 2 - 5 May the Republican Centre for Technology Transfer took part in the National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in the Azerbaijan Republic. RCTT joined to the event in Baku along with the official delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), owing to the support rendered by the NASB, the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus (SCST), and the UNDP.
Within the framework of the national exhibition RCTT’s mission comprised presentation of the analytical information framework of the Web portal of RCTT, with the information resources on:
the projects, R&D products, services available with the entities under the NASB and with other RCTT’s clients;
the services and information resources offered by RCTT to foreign companies and investors;
the recently launched Project “Strengthening the National System for Technology Transfer in the Republic of Belarus on the Basis of Information and Communication Technologies” implemented and funded by the Government of Belarus, with co-funding and under the auspices of UNDP and UNIDO;
the laws and regulations pertinent to the innovation business and IP protection in Belarus, etc.
On 3 May the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev and the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Azerbaijan Republic Nikolai Patskevich and other high-rank officials, visited the exhibition. Also, on 4 May, Prime-Minister of the Azerbaijan Republic Artur Rasi-Zade attended the event.
On 3 May, under the aegis of the exhibition there was the seminar “Today’s Issues on Interaction of the Belarusian and Azerbaijan Scientific Communities” held at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAN). The seminar was jointly organized by the SCST and ANAN. The President of the ANAN Mahmud Kerimov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium Mikhail Myasnikovich, officials from the Ministry of Education of Belarus, the Belarusian State University, the NANB, and the ANAN. The participants of the seminar took up the current state and prospects for further intensified collaboration of the scientists and researchers of Belarus and Azerbaijan , both in the pure scientific research sphere and in the R&D commercialization fields. Director of RCTT Alexander Uspenskiy made the report “The Services and Information Resources Offered by the Republican Centre for Technology Transfer”.
The following exhibits and displays were of special interest to the exhibition visitors: the stone-crushing machinery of the Tsentr Research and Production Amalgamation; absorbents for elimination of the oil spill emergencies on water and soil; the Ekobel microbe preparation for water and soil de-oiling and cleaning off the oil refinery products; melioration agents for environmental rehabilitation, recovery of degenerated and naturally low-fertility lands and environmentally pure crop production in areas affected by man-caused disasters (with heavy metals, pesticides and other pollutants); an array of technologies for water purification; a technology for perennial virus-free production of potato seeds; technologies for optimization of the thermal cleaning practice in oil pipelines; a technology for reduction of the overall costs of extra-heavy crude oil transportation at the stage of the design of transportation systems; etc.
On 5 May, the President of the Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Foundation, Emil Majidov and RCTT Director Alexander Uspenskiy signed a cooperation agreement between the two entrusted entities. The agreement provides for the reciprocal assistance to Azerbaijani R&D entities, universities, investors, entrepreneurs those of Belarus, with the aim to join their efforts in the study, research, commercialization and application of state-of-the-art achievements in science and competitive methods, practices, technologies. Also, the parties are to organize and ensure the bilateral exchange of the high-technology and research achievements, render matchmaking mediator services to enterprises in Azerbaijan and to Belarusian entities, irrespective of their legal forms. Under the newly signed agreement, a hyperlink to the Foundation’s Web portal (www.azpromo.org) will be posted on the Web portal of RCTT (http://ictt.by); besides, the RCTT Web site will host a new sub-section on the laws and regulations applicable to the innovation and investment-promoting activities. The Azerbaijan partner organization will, in their turn, render the similar services to RCTT. In addition, the Foundation were much interested in seconding a would-be seminar “Research and Development in the Top-Priority Areas in Belarus. Services and Information Resources Offered by the Republican Centre for Technology Transfer to Foreign Companies and Investors. Preparing Technology Requests/Offers in the UNIDO, IRC, Yet2.com Formats”. The time terms for the seminar are going to be fixed in the very near future.
